The ultimate Easter treat for lovers of wine and chocolate

Wine and chocolate! A lot of people would rate these in their top two favourite flavours. But can these two different indulgences really work together? The answer is a big yes. We have teamed up with the very talented Vicky from Adixions Chocolate to bring this concept to life.

Can you see the decadent swirls of glossy brown and perfect pink as they chase each other around this sumptuous block of chocolate? That is the signature look of the stunning delicacy, specially crafted by Adixions for Longview Vineyard. We chatted with Vicky about the inspiration for this creation and how it captures the essence of Longview.

“The area around Longview’s Macclesfield vineyard is famed for its beautiful pink marble, which was the inspiration for this chocolate. We make it exclusively for Longview. Created from 64% dark chocolate, swirled with a rare ‘ruby’ chocolate, the two combined mimic the topography of the Longview Macclesfield vineyard.”

Vicky’s creation is exclusive to the Longview cellar door and bears a striking resemblance to the labels on the Macclesfield Range. Featuring 5 highly awarded varieties, the Macclesfield range includes the 2022 Grüner Veltliner, trophy winner for Best Single Varietal White at the 2022 Royal Melbourne Wine Show. These small batch wines are crafted from low yielding, hand-harvest vines, to ensure a purity of flavour that uniquely reflects the Macclesfield area.

Vicky says “These premium wines needed a very special chocolate. That’s why we have used ruby chocolate, which has a very unique flavour. It’s really aromatic with notes of raspberry and cream, but it also has this lovely acidity that gives it a burst of tartness. When combined with the earthy tones in the dark chocolate it works perfectly to elevate the chocolate and wine experience”

Adixions is an artisanal chocolate brand based in Adelaide, headed by dedicated chocolatier, Vicky Papazaharias. She began her craft at the young age of 10 while helping her mother create decadent Greek desserts for family parties. “This heartfelt hobby quickly became a professional passion” says Vicky. “I immersed myself in training at Savour School in Melbourne, learning all I could about the art and science of making chocolate”.
