Best of the Best: Why Our Award-Winning Wines Stole the Spotlight

At the prestigious 50th National Wine Show of Australia and inaugural National Wine Festival, Longview Vineyard was honoured with two Gold Medals, one Silver, and four Bronze, a testament to the vision, craft, and care that defines our winemaking.

Among the best of the best, three wines in particular captured the attention of judges and wine lovers alike. Here’s what sets them apart, and how to enjoy them to their fullest.

2024 Juno Rosato Nebbiolo Pinot Nero Gets Gold

The most awarded rosé in Australia, Juno Rosato is anything but ordinary. Crafted in a dry, European-inspired style, it showcases the elegance of Nebbiolo and Pinot Nero in a wine that’s as captivating in the glass as it is on the palate.

This rosé is a masterclass in balance and aromatic complexity. Its rose-water hue with copper glints is visually stunning, while its perfume of red berries, pressed flowers, nectarine skin, and star anise makes it irresistibly alluring. On the palate, it’s bright, clean, and refreshing, finishing with a mouth-watering citrus edge that keeps you coming back for more.

Perfect Pairing:
It pairs wonderfully with Blue Swimmer Crab spaghetti, peach and burrata salad, roast chicken with thyme and lemon, or grilled prawns with chilli and lime. It’s also the perfect aperitivo for long lunches in the sun.

2024 Macclesfield Grüner Veltliner Grabs Gold

A unique varietal still gaining ground in Australia, Grüner Veltliner has found its true home on the steep, south-facing slopes of our Macclesfield vineyard. Slow to ripen and complex in structure, this wine is a standout of both subtlety and strength.

Clarity and energy define this Grüner. On the nose, it’s brimming with citrus zest, white pepper, leafy herbs, and a hint of juniper. The palate is dry and layered, with flavours of green pear, fresh root vegetables, and spice, all lifted by a gentle acidity that lingers and evolves.

Perfect Pairing:
This wine is a natural match for Austrian or Central European fare. Think schnitzel, roast chicken with herbs, or crispy pork belly. It also pairs beautifully with sushi or tempura.

2022 Yakka Shiraz Scores Silver

Representing the soul of Longview, the Yakka Shiraz is a vibrant, expressive wine that speaks of place and season. Its trademark balance of fruit, spice, and savoury structure has made it a favourite for years - and now, a nationally recognised standout.

This Shiraz walks the line between power and elegance. Aromas of white pepper, violet, cranberry, dark cherry, and plum skin are joined by earthy undertones. The palate is silky, savoury, and bright, showcasing finesse and drinkability, with exceptionally smooth tannins that add to its charm.

Perfect Pairing:
Ideal with chargrilled lamb chops, slow-cooked beef ragu, or mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with hard cheeses and roasted root vegetables, such as the decadent cheese platter in our Cellar Door.

A Proud Moment for Longview

These awards are more than medals - they’re recognition of years of dedication to thoughtful viticulture, precise winemaking, and a vision that values both innovation and tradition.
