The graffiti pieces that adorn the label are only the very beginning of the story. Longview has created limited, collectable art on the bottle and what’s inside is equally so.
Every vintage, we take great care to isolate select rows of the best Shiraz fruit, then go a step further by hand-picking only perfect bunches based on flavour. The yields are small but the rewards are plentiful resulting in only 200 dozen of the best Shiraz we could make.
Whole bunches in small open fermenters deliver delicacy to the blue and red fruit spectrum; and anise and clove combine to give this wine its spicy decadence. Subtle French oak influence ensures the fruit harvested remains the star of this experience.
Decant if consuming now but will reward those patient enough to cellar 10+ years.
When visiting Longview Vineyard you will notice some rather large pieces of street-art, inspired by our annual Adelaide Piece Project event.
At our Adelaide Piece Project event, witness local South Australian artists go head to head in a live street-art display. In just six hours, four incredible artists will create their own huge aerosol masterpieces. Then the winning artwork becomes the label of Longview’s premium, reserve Shiraz, ‘The Piece’.
The winning piece of art is then hung by our Heritage Barn, and one of our favourite pieces adorns the wall of the Cellar Door. Amazing for the space, even though it never won the competition.
Another favourite piece is our car park wall that features a mural done by local artist J2SKE. He participated in our 2018 Piece Project event and won the People’s Choice award, and since we liked him so much we asked him to do something permanent.
