Find out where our wines come from with our interactive map.

Simply click on the shaded areas to find more information on each patch of vineyard and where your favourite Longview wines begin their journey.

As you can see, some wines are sourced from various blocks and therefore represented on different parts of the map. This illustrates how Longview builds complexity in our wines by selecting from diverse patches and aspects within the estate.

Barbera has it's origins in the Piedmonte region of Italy.

Deeply coloured, fresh and soft with bright cherry flavours.

Longview Barbera is planted on Ironstone over Sandy Clay Loam to 2 different clones: 84 & 424.

Cabernet Sauvignon makes wonderfully concentrated, dry and structured wines with deep colour and aromas of blackcurrant and cedar.

Devil’s Elbow Cabernet  is sourced entirely from our CS1 block, set on a 45 degree gradient with its highest point at 400m above sea level.

Granulated Ironstone sits over Fine Sandy Loam and Yellow Clay on this patch of vineyard which is planted to LC10 and Old Reynella clones on own roots.

Riesling is one of the most ancient German grape varieties.

Very expressive of the soil on which it is grown, Riesling has lifted floral aromatics, tight acidity, minerality and a wonderfully fruity palate. It's acid profile makes it perfect for a late harvest style.

Granular Ironstone over Sandy Clay Loam comprises the soil of the famed "Iron Knob" vineyard which is planted to the GM 198 clone on own roots.

The most planted grape variety in Austria, Gruner Veltliner has found a home in the Adelaide Hills.

Stylistically, Gruner is very versatile ranging from fresh and crisp to powerful and concentrated. Longview aims for a style which is medium-bodied, slightly spicy with a firm palate of mineral and citrus.

Now with 3 Ha of Gruner planted, Longview has the most of this varietal in the Hills, planted to original Austrian clones (Iby, HHW2, HHW3) on granular ironstone over silty, clay loam.

With its roots firmly planted in France, Chardonnay is found everywhere wine grapes are grown and is arguably the world's most versatile grape.

From refreshing and lean to rich and powerful, this pliant grape lends itself to many wine-making techniques.

Longview's Chardonnay currently consists of one clone (I10V1) planted on own roots. However Longview is investing in an exciting new Chardonnay program with plantings of  Entav 76, 95, 96, 589 and a new I10V1S on clay loam soil under a layer of quartz.

Pinot Grigio (or Gris) dates back to 18th century Germany and France but came to North-East Italy in the early 1800's.

A high yielding and early ripening varietal, careful management in the vineyard is imperative to achieve aromatics of white flowers, pears and peaches while maintaining a crunchy palate weight.

Longview has the D1V7 clone planted at 350 mteres above sea level on granular ironstone over fine silty loam soils.

Traditionally from Bordeaux, Semillon has quite a proud history in Australia and ripens easily here in the Adelaide Hills.

When picked early, Semillon displays lemon zest aromatics and taut acid which can mature into quite complex, unique wines and provides a slightly waxy and citrus edge when blended with the more vibrant Sauvignon Blanc.

Longview's Semillon (clones BVRC32, 147) were among the first plantings on the site and do well on the vineyard's mineral soils.

Traditionally, the Piece Shiraz is meticulously hand-picked from select rows of  SH2, SH 3, SH15 and SH13 E, the rockiest, driest patch of the vineyard.

These particular vines are planted purposefully on differing aspects to ensure ripeness, yet maintain the acidity and complexity that has become a mainstay of The Piece.

As with the Yakka, BVRC12, 1654 clones are planted on granular ironstone through fine sandy loam.

Pinot Noir is one the world's most noble grape varieties and indeed one of the oldest. Over 1,000 clones of this grape are known.

Longview is planted to the D5V12 clone of Pinot Noir, perfectly suited to sparkling wine.

Picked early on a 4 hectare vineyard of fine sandy clay, Longview Pinot Noir is treated gently in the winery to minimise tannin and  attain a gentle pink hue to the wine.

All Chardonnay for W. Wagtail is planted on own roots on the cool, sheltered, low-lying CH14 vineyard.

Early picked, the fruit sees gentle pressing and small batch ferments at low temperatures to maintain fruit and the characteristics of the clay loam soil.

No malolactic fermentation maintains the succulent acidity of Longview's Chardonnay.

Originally from the Loire Valley, Sauvignon Blanc is a distinctive and important grape for the Adelaide Hills.

When picked at optimum Baumé and not overly ripe, it makes aromatic, vibrant wine with grassy aromatics, citrus and tropical fruit flavours

Longview is planted to 10 Ha of Sauvignon Blanc on different aspects of the vineyard. Moreover, each patch is either spur or cane prune to control yield and therefore acidity and flavour in the berry.

Both F4V6 and M1 clones are planted between 325 and 410 metres above sea level on granular Ironstone over fine sandy loam soil.
