LV Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2017
An old favourite gets a bold new look!
Longview Vineyard’s Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon has been one of Australia’s most well-known, value for money Reds. The 3 Trophies, 18 Gold, 10 Silver, countless Bronze Medals and consistent 90+ point scores for every vintage for over a decade, backs this up.
The packaging change brings to the forefront our brand insignia – LV: Longview Vineyard. The back label uses myriad LV words synonymous with this blend and a wink to the irreverent “tasting note”.
The wine is juicy, flavoursome and rich, yet beautifully balanced with integrated oak and drying Cabernet tannin . This is a distinctive Longview wine which has all the attributes that define our Adelaide Hills single vineyard.

This 2017 blend exudes vibrant blueberry fruit character with underlying spice and dark chocolate on the palate. Its mid-weight mouth feel
displays a beautiful balance of fruit and youthful acidity. It is flavoursome and rich with integrated oak and a long-structured finish. This is a distinctive Longview wine which has all the attributes that define our Adelaide Hills single vineyard.
2017 was a very cool vintage with intermittent rainfall, prolonging the ripening period and enabling good fruit flavor development without high sugars. Shoot thinning was conducted a month before budburst to improve shoot length and control yields. Bunch thinning prior to flowering and then again during veraison, ensured improved airflow and reduced bunch variability further improving fruit quality.
The LV Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced entirely from Longview’s vineyard at Macclesfield, Adelaide Hills. The Shiraz component is sourced from block SH13, SH2 and SH6 and the Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from block CS1. The fruit was harvested in cool conditions, crushed and fermented for 14 days on skins, then gently pressed and matured for 12 months in new and old French, as well as old American oak hogsheads.

90 Points – Martin Field. “Deep ruby to the eye with purple edges. The nose reminded me of crushed ripe blackberries and it also has a little oaky vanillin in the background. The medium-weighted palate is dryish and displays a really nice balance of fruit, youthful acidity and mild astringency. A lovely dinner style.”
