A look back into our past, and how it’s shaped our future.
Longview Vineyard Macclesfield is named after the stunning vista from its elevated sites to the majestic Coorong, bordering the Southern Ocean.
Taking the long view is also a key part of our viticultural and winemaking philosophy – incorporating vision, patience, and persistence as we work to mould the best expressions of quality and style from our unique site.

We acknowledge the Peramangk people as the traditional custodians of this land and strive to emulate their achievements in nurturing and sustaining the land over millennia.
From European colonisation c1837 until c1995, the Macclesfield region was dominated by mixed farming, including potato growing and the raising of sheep, beef, and dairy cattle.
The region was also renowned for its marble, with veins traceable from Macclesfield to nearby Paris Creek over an 8 km distance. This marble, ranging in colour from white and cream to blue-grey and pink, is known geologically as Fork Tree Limestone and dates to the Early Cambrian period.
The pink marble inspired our small-batch Macclesfield range of wines, which have quickly become recognised as classic interpretations of the best the Adelaide Hills has to offer.
It wasn’t until 1995 that vines made their debut in Macclesfield – at Longview Vineyard, thanks to Adelaide entrepreneurs Duncan McGillivray and Karen Foster.
The Longview Vineyard changed ownership to the Saturno family in 2007, marking the beginning of an era of continuous reinvestment in the vineyard and facilities.
The Saturno family has a rich history in hospitality and quickly identified the opportunity to provide a more complete experience, incorporating wedding facilities, quality accommodation, authentic Italian-inspired food, and more recently, a Day Spa.
