End of Vintage report: 2008

The season of 2008 can generally be described as a 'cool' year despite peaks of hot weather up until harvest.

Unseasonally an unprecedented heat wave occurred 25% of the way through vintage, causing natural acid to metabolise with little increase in flavour and sugar, making the industry as a whole very nervous throughout the 2 and and half weeks!

At its conclusion we at Longview were very relieved to see berries settling back to 'normality' while we waited for flavour development to continue and we were not disappointed!

One may expect to see elegant, well flavoured whites from the 2008 vintage. The flavours in Longview's Shiraz, for example are not typical of our 'european' style but are more akin to a bigger aussie red.

However the Longview faithful will not be disappointed as we will continue to produce wines the way nature intended and typical of the season in which it is caste!
Wines that will certainly attract conversation in any vertical line-up.

Come and try for yourself and see 2008 truly reflected in the bottle with a little help from some hardy hands!
